1. Is a residence required to build a shop or accessory structure?

In Suburban Residential, Rural Residential, Mountain Residential, Urban Residential, Urban Mixed Residential, and Mobile Home Zoning Districts, a residence is required prior to any accessory uses being permitted.

2. Does my property allow horses?

Horses are allowed in Zoning Districts that allow Light Agriculture as a permitted use.  Some Zoning Districts require a Conditional Use Permit to have horses (Light Agriculture).

3. What is the difference between a Home Occupation and a Home Business?

Both the Home Business and Home Occupation are activities carried on by the immediate family residing on the premises.  A Home Business allows up to two other employees.

These activities shall not be visible or noticeable from outside the walls of the dwelling, residential garage, or other accessory buildings and not constitute a nuisance to the surrounding properties.

4. What is an Elevation Certificate or an E.C.?

An Elevation Certificate is an important administrative tool of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).  It is used to provide elevation information necessary to ensure compliance with community floodplain management regulations, to determine proper insurance premium rates, and to support a request for a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) or Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) or based on fill (LOMR-F).

This certificate is used only to certify building elevations.
