1. What do I need to bring with me to get my car registered?

2. I got a new car - can I get credit for the plates I bought for my old car because I don't drive it anymore?

We cannot give credit for transfer from a car that you still own, even if you no longer drive that car. Most of the tax you're paying on your car is not a use tax - it's an ownership tax, similar to the tax on your house. Actually driving the car or not doesn't make a difference.

3. Do I have to pay sales tax before I drive my new car?

The tax must be paid within the 45- or 50- day time limit regardless of your intended use of the vehicle. We can collect the sales tax without registering your car.

4. What if I lost my license plate, tabs or registration?

Upon verified Lost Plate or Tab affidavit and with a Photo ID ,  an owner who has lost, mutilated or destroyed plates, tabs or registration may be issued replacements.

Replacements costs are as follows:

• License Plates - $8.00
• Tabs - $6.00
• Registration - $4.00
