The Assessor's office will be mailing the 2023 Personal Property Renditions in mid-December. Please keep an eye out for these mailed forms. If you do not receive the form or lost it, a Rendition can be downloaded here (PDF). Please review and correct all line items to ensure the correct property tax value. The deadline to return the Rendition is March 1, 2023.
Did you know there is a new category within Personal Property that is considered “de minimis?” What does that even mean? The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines de minimis as: so minor as to merit disregard. While, you are still required to report de minimis personal property, you will not be taxed for total values less than or equal to $2,400.
The new statute protects the tax base from over-paying. For example;
$2,400 x Assessment Level (9.5%) x Mill Levy = Taxes Due
2,400 x .095 x .06789 = $15.48
It costs more money for the Assessor to process this data than what is collected. By you reporting the property, and the Assessor listing it, together we have followed the law. This is referenced in W.S. 39-11-105(a)(xlii), and can be found at https://wyoleg.gov/StateStatutes/StatutesConstitution.
