Planning & Development

The purpose of the Natrona County Development Department is to provide necessary services to implement sound land use planning and economic development policies to protect and enhance the quality of life for present and future inhabitants of Natrona County.


The Natrona County Development Office is multifaceted with three divisions:


The Development Department performs a variety of services intended to protect, maintain, and develop an attractive, safe, and healthy environment.


Primary functions address property development and land use activities occurring in the county.


The Development Department is also responsible for the orderly development of the county and the administration of various land use regulations, including the zoning resolution, zoning code enforcement, conditional use permits, variances, and all subdivisions (simple and major).

The Development Department also provides technical assistance and staff support to the Planning & Zoning Commission.

Building and Planning Updates

  • Effective September 15, 2020 - Natrona County Building Department has adopted the National Electrical Code 2020 Edition - Resolution 44-20.
  • Effective January 1, 2021 - The Building Department adopted the Natrona County Building Code Fees - Resolution 45-20. This fee schedule will cover all permit applications (building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, roof and sign).
  • Effective January 1, 2021 - The Building Department adopted the National Electrical Safety Code, 2017 Edition as modified - Resolution 46-20.
  • Effective January 1, 2021 - The Natrona County Planning Department adopted the Planning Department Fee Schedule - Resolution 48-20.
